Well Come to Bahirdar Health Science College Educational Development Center

Dear Visitors:

Welcome to Bahir Dar Health Science College!

This is one of the mid-level healthcare professional education and training colleges in the Amhara region. It serves as an education and training center for the last 50 Years since 1972 G.C. Now, it is striving to upgrade itself to train and educate high-level healthcare professionals to upgrade the midlevel health workforce who are working in the health sector.

I am emphatic about working at Bahir Dar Health Science College as a coordinator of the Educational Development Center (EDC). Under this center of educational development, six subdepartmental units are serving as a strong pillar for continued student and professional academic development. Here is the name of the six sub departmental such as research and community service, educational quality assurance, curriculum review and appraisal, internal student assessment, designing project, resource mobilization, and professionals’ capacity building departments. This Educational Development Center intensively stretches itself from the college to the outreach activities of the community. The hub of our institution is always community development and thinking that “we are a member of the community.”

Next to this, as working an educational development center, it will serve as an epicenter of evidence for policies, guidelines, and intervention strategies related to professional development in the healthcare industry. This help to develop simple, locally relevant, and cost-effective surrogate markers for the detection of community problems related to communicable and noncommunicable diseases to facilitate preventive as well as curative interventions for the population. Not only this but also, fostering capacity building through the provision of quality education and clinical research to contribute our parts for a full understanding of the community towards the purpose of our institution’s existence about the public health importance in the region and Ethiopia as a whole.

In general, EDC plan to contribute a lot to continuous health professional development by targeting our communities’ short and long-term problems and timely evaluating the varying situations’ through designing improved methods and tools for the prevention, treatment, and control of our community before and after facing any health-related challenges through systematically focusing on generating cutting-edge evidence after identifying the community gaps ultimately addressing our community needs.

Finally, I see you with full respect when you visit us!
